3.    Hardware Connection

1)    Connect the serial port of 3G-FAX to the serial port of your computer with serial port cable.

2)    Connect the outside phone line to the line port of 3G-FAX.

3)    Connect 3G-Fax's phone port to telephone with phone line.

4)    Insert the electrical plug of 3G-FAX machine into the power supply socket. The system will start to work after self-check.

5.    3G-FAX Server Software Installation

1)    Find the "Setup.exe" under the "Server" directory in the 3G-FAX installation folder and double click, then finish the software installation according to the installation directions.

2)       After the computer is restarted, 3G-FAX icon will appear on the desktop. The system will automatically search 3G-FAX machine; after the search is complete, please input user name and password to login.

Uninstall: Click window's "start" menu, then select "program" ->"3G-FAX Digital machine" -> “uninstall", follow with program prompt, finish 3G-FAX uninstall.

6.    3G-FAX Client Software Installation

1）Find "Setup.exe" under the "Client" directory in the 3G-FAX installation folder and double click to activate it.

2）In the network setup menu, input 3G-FAX server IP address or computer name and network port number, and finish software installation according to the installation directions.

3）Restart the computer; then the desktop will display 3G-FAX manager icon. Start up 3G-FAX to eject user login window, input the user name and password added at the server end.

Uninstall: The procedures for client uninstall are similar to those for the server. Please refer to the uninstall procedures for the server end.

7.    Notices for Installation

1）When the operation systems above Windows 2000 are used for installation or uninstall, the user login system with administrator authority shall be used; otherwise, installation or uninstall will fail.

2） When installing 3G-FAX server software, please write down the port number, Computer name and IP address accordingly; the data will be used for the installation of client software.

3） In LAN environment, it is required that all computers using 3G-FAX services be in one work group or domain. The user computers can either automatically obtain IP address or be specified with IP address manually.

4） If the computer system is installed with firewall, it is recommended that 3G-FAX software be installed after the firewall is closed or the administrator has necessary network setting.

5） Before uninstall, please close 3G-FAX manager and the "3G-FAX LAN Fax Administrator" icon on Windows task bar.

6） If you download 3G-FAX Installation software online; please refer to the installation instructions on the website or in the downloaded installation package.

8.    3G-FAX Server System

User Login and Logout

User Login

Open 3G-FAX software and input user name and password to log in. When 3G-FAX server software is initially installed, the defaulted administrator name is "3GFAX" and the password is "123456". If logging in as an administrator, in "Setup" menu, you can change administrator name and password, configure 3G-FAX system information, add new users and view the log information of all users. If logging in as a new user, you can view the corresponding user log information in accordance with the power of such user but you will be forbidden to configure the system setup.

Logout of Current User

Click the "3G-FAX Server Monitor" icon on Windows taskbar and select "Logout" in the ejected menu to log out the current user. In the state of no login, it is forbidden to view and revise any data of the system. Please click "3G-FAX Manager" icon on the desktop to log in the system again.

Add New Users and User Management

Add New Users

In "Tools" menu, click "3G-FAX User Manager", and click "Add" in the ""User Management" window; or directly click "Add New Users". Then the desktop will directly eject the adding window; please input user name, department, login name, fax extension number accordingly, then click "OK" (default: 3-digit such as 801; you can change digits of numbers in "Advanced Option" in the property information of the 3G-FAX machine).

Types of Users

The system has only one server administrator, after logging into the system, the server administrator can add "Normal User", "Power User" and "Administrator".

"Normal User" can only view self-log of fax reception and sending with the lowest authority; "Power User" can view all logs of the users of the department; "Administrator" can view all logs of 3G-FAX network users. These three users have no right to conduct system setup, only the server administrator does so.

Setup User's E-mail Forwarding

Setup e-mail forwarding refers to filling the e-mail information of the user into the user own information property page, including SMTP server, sender's address, password and receiver's address.

View User Login Status

Click 3G-FAX server end fax administrator icon, in the ejected menu, choose "Check 3G-FAX User's Status", the desktop will display the basic information and login state of every user in the system.
3G-FAX Device Property Information Setup

Click "Device Info" on the Toolbar of 3G-FAX manager, select 3G-FAX machine in the device information window, and then click "Property" to display the device information window.

Setup of 3G-FAX Number, Automatic Answer Ring Times and Reception Mode In the "System Setting" window of the machine property, you can set the phone number connected with this machine and the times of 3G-FAX automatic answer rings. When 3G-FAX is set as automatic reception, there are three modes, defaulted to be the three-in-one mode of "Voice, File and Fax". If no voice message or file is needed, choose "Fax Mode". The fax mode of "Fax only-Support Extension" allows the fax sender to input the extension number of the fax receiver so it can realize automatic fax distribution. The mode of “Fax only-No Extension ", when in automatic answer situation, sends fax information directly, without voice hint.

Set Virtual Extension Number

In "Advanced Option" of system property window, the user can change virtual extension's digits (default is 3 digits), however, the extension number must be the same as the true extension's digits, and otherwise automatic forward will be ineffective.

Set 3G-FAX Rx and Tx Mode

The 3G-FAX machine default sending and receiving fax is allowable. In "Set Rx and Tx Mode" of the system property window, you can select "Receive and Transmit Machine" mode or "Receive Machine" mode, if choosing the "Receive Machine", then all users of 3G-FAX cannot send fax by this machine.

Set 3G-FAX Multithreading for sending and Receiving Fax

Select "set multithreading for send and receive fax" in "setup" menu, choose "the numbers of fax sending thread" and "the numbers of fax receiving thread" and set the number, then click "Ok" The system defaults selects the max sending and receiving thread.

Set Time Interval of Automatic Forwarding Email and Common Folder Forwarding Email

Under "Setup" menu, select "Set Fax to Email Options", set time for checking and sending the task of "Fax to Email” (default is 5 minutes). Set email option of 3G-FAX common folder. To forbid the user to automatic forward fax to email, the administrator can select "Forbid Fax to Email (for all users)".

Set Transmit Option

Under "Setup" menu, select "Set Transmit Option", then the desktop will display a setup window.

Set Outside Line Code and IP Code

If 3G-FAX machine connects to extension line, it needs inputting number in "Outside Line Code", (for example 0 or 9); 3G-FAX supports long distance IP card dial, for example, set"17990,l,42743784#,8746# in IP code column, and select "Dial prefix code - auto dial outside line code and IP code if "0" meet"; thus, when sending fax, the user needs not to choose "Dial Prefix Code" every time.

Set Status of Rx and Tx Window and Resending Times

On set program option, choose "Minimize the sending window while sending fax" and "Minimize the receiving window while receiving or uploading fax". So it will not affect the computer's work when the server is receiving or sending fax. If sending fails, the resending defaulted is one time; input resending time. Also you can select "Save the fax to be forwarded to draft box" after it fails to be sent.

Sending First

When user is sending fax, all sending tasks will be listed in the order of "First in, first Sent". If one fax task is very urgent, select this fax in the list

and choose "Preferential fax sending" in "Tools" menu, to list this task in front.

Set Timer to Upload Fax

Choose "Set timer to upload fax" under "Setup" menu, the setting window will appear on the screen, the system defaults to check and upload fax of '3G-FAX' Inbox' every other 15 minutes. User can change this setting as he likes, for example, set check and upload fax every other 10 minutes or 5 minutes.

Set Watch to Forward Fax of Common Folder

All fax received in common folder can be distributed by "watch" column. Choose "Set Fax Forwarding of Common Folder” under "setup" menu. On the ejected window, select or add one or more users and click "OK". So the fax received by "Common Folder" will be forwarded to the mailbox of the specified user automatically. The watch will deal with or forward the received faxes.

Format of Phonebook for Import or Export

Click "Phonebook" icon on the toolbar, and select "Import" or "Export" on the ejected window. Now it can support *.txt. Excel and Access formats. Please see the example for *.txt format:

After "Name" and "Fax" fields, you must click the "tab" key to get space to break them, and then the "name" must be at a different line with than the "fax". If there are many telephone numbers, please edit it according to above-mentioned rules or the format of exported text file.

Please see the following example for Excel format:

The first column is the name of company, the second is fax number; the Excel sheet name must be changed to be "Pbk Sheet", or refer to exported format. When importing, if there are some number that cannot be imported, you can input (‘) before words in every cell, then import again.
Please see the following example for Access format: The first column is the name of company, the second is fax number (the same as Excel format); the Access sheet name must be changed to be "pbk", or refer to exported format.

Add and Make 3G-FAX Stamp/Signature

Please stamp on white paper (stamp face is on top) or write down your signature on white paper, then scan it by scanner. Open "image processing" software in window's accessories (Win2000 is image processing, Win98 is "Image" software; or image software with scanner). Choose "Scan Image" under "File" menu, choose "Black & White", 100dpi resolution mode to scan stamp (previous scan first, adjust the area to true area, 3G-FAX supports 352 *320 pixel stamp), then save as bmp file with black & white mode.

Choose "Start Stamp Manager" under tool menu. Click "Add Stamp" or "Add Signature", follow the introduction add the stamp to 3G-FAX stamp library.

9.    3G-FAX Client System

User Login and Account Setup at Client End
User Login

Input log name and password (if available) that are added at server, click

"Login". If login is successful, there will appear a fax icon at the

bottom right of the window taskbar; if login fails, the icon will display stop sign. If selecting “Auto Login" in the "Logging into 3G-FAX Server", then open the 3G-FAX software; then automatic login will be finished.

Configure User's Account

Select "Account" at the login window or click icon of 3G-FAX client manager and select "Configure user's account", then a window of "3G-FAX Account" is ejected; the user can add, edit and delete any account. Each account's "IP Address", "Computer Name" and Port Number must be the same as the server's network configuration.

Switch Accounts

If there are many accounts, click the 3G-FAX client manager icon and select "Exit from 3G-FAX Server", there will appear a window for switching. Click "Switch Accounts", then the current server will be disconnected automatically; select new server's account, input login name to log in.

Set Sending Option

Choose "Set Sending Option" under "Setup" in 3G-FAX manager, and then a setting window is ejected. Input sender (for example company name), outside line number (if 3G-FAX connect to extension, like 0, 9 etc.) and IP number( please see "Set sending option" at server); if selecting "Sending fails, automatically saved to draft box", then the user can check or resend the failed task in the draft box.

Set Timer to Check New Fax

Click 3G-FAX client manager icon, select "Set Timer to Check New

Fax", then there will appear a window for setting;

Default check timer is every 1 minutes; input the specified time directly and click "Ok".

Set Fax Notification Tips

Choose "Set fax Notification Tips" under "Setup" in 3G-FAX manager window, there will appear a setting window, change setting to "Show Notification Window". When 3G-FAX client receives message of new fax or sends fax successfully, the system will jump out this tips automatically. Default is to hide the tips.

Check 3G-FAX Outbox

All fax tasks sent by client will be listed at server waiting to be sent, users can check if own sending task is complete. Choose "View Outbox of 3G-FAX" under "Tools" menu, there will jump out a window for check; user also can delete the listed tasks. If user belongs to "Administrator User" or "Advanced Administrator", user also can check own department on all tasks, and can send one task by "Prior Sending".

Import or Export Phonebook

Importing and exporting phonebook at client is the same as that at server, so please refer to “Import or Export Phonebook at 3G-FAX Server".

Set User's Properties

Choose "Set User's Properties" under "Setup" menu, then will appear a window for setting (login first is a must); user can change his/her own sending email setting.

Add and make 3G-FAX stamp/signature

(Please refer to the instructions for 3G-FAX server).

10. Receive and Send Fax at 3G-FAX Server

1. Send Fax

Open 3G-FAX manager, choose fax file ready for sending, draw it to "Send Fax" shortcut phonebook which is in the top left window, confirm it; there will appear a window of "Sending Fax", input information of sender and

receiver, then click "send".

2. Send Fax from other File Editing Software

Open a software editor of text (like word etc.), finish editing file. Choose "Print" under "File" menu of software, and select "3G-FAX" in printer list, select ok, there will appear "Send Fax" window, input sender and recipient information, and click "Send".
3. Send Fax in Group

Choose "Recipient Group" under "Tool" menu, click "add" to add new recipient group; then select attach fax File and draw it to "Group Fax Sending" shortcut by mouse, operate it according to the directions.

4. Forward Fax to Inner User

Select fax file to be forwarded in 3G-FAX Manager, choose "Forward to Inner user" under "Sending" menu. Then a window for forwarding occurs on the desktop; after adding "Receiver user", click "Send" to finish.

5. Forward Automatically

3G-FAX machine can support "Virtual Extension Number" function. After the sender dials up successfully, click key "3", and input extension number. After 3G-FAX receives fax; it will automatically forward the fax to everyone according to the user's extension numbers. If user didn't input extension number or inexistent number, it will automatically forward fax to common folder, administrator can forward all faxes to individual user accordingly.

6. Retrieve Fax from Other Location

To retrieve the fax in 3G-FAX from other location, you can dial 3G-FAX number via the local facsimile machine, press key "9" and input user password (input together, defaulted password is 1234), press key "3" according to the voice directions, and then press "Start" key on the facsimile machine to retrieve faxes in 3G-FAX common folder.

Send Written Faxes as Bills, Hand-written Files and etc (Please see "Scanning and Faxing")

11. Receive and Send Fax at 3G-FAX Client End

1)    Send faxes.

2)    Send faxes via file editing software.

3)    Send faxes in group.

4)    Forward fax to inner user.

(Please see "3G-FAX Server Fax Reception and Sending").

12．Fax Browsing, Stamping and Editing at 3G-FAX Server and Client

In 3G-FAX manager, choose the fax:

To browse: double click the mouse to open it. The icons on the Toolbar are Open, Close, Save, Print, Forward (to outer user). Rotate Edit, Stamp, and Zoom etc.

To stamp: choose the corresponding seal or signature in Stamp Library or Signature Library, click the stamping or signature icon on the Toolbar; then the system will suggest inputting password; after the password is input properly, click the mouse in the place where stamping or signature is needed to finish stamping or signing.

To edit the fax: click "Draw Line" or "Word Tools" in the Toolbar, click the place to finish editing, and then save the edited fax.

13. Scan Fax

Choose Scanner

When you buy 3G-FAX, the distributor will recommend the types of scanners for your choice. For convenience, the scanner must meet the following conditions:

   a. with independent scanning, printing, faxing shortcut buttons (shortcut faxing shortcut key is a must). b. USB interface.

Setup of Shortcut Keys and Parameters

Scanning Shortcut Key: Scanning types include true color, gray-to-gray and black-white etc, which depend on the file to be scanned.
Printing Shortcut Key: Set the output as corresponding printer. The scanning type of black-white printer shall be chosen as gray-to-gray while that of color printer shall be true color.
Faxing Shortcut Key: Set the output as 3G-FAX facsimile machine, set scanning type as black-white with resolution 200dpi.

1. Send Fax

Put the written file to be faxed into the scanner, press the faxing shortcut key; in the dial-up window displayed on the screen, choose the wanted number to send the file.

2. Copy

Put the written file into the scanner and press the printing shortcut key.

3. Multi-page Sending

The faxing shortcut key of some scanners is inbuilt with the function of
multi-page sending. If there is no such function, the following methods shall be adopted: first, scan all pages into the software image processing program in sequence, choose "Print" after scanning is over, then choose 3G-FAX facsimile machine and finish faxing operation according to the directions.

14. 3G-FAX E-works Parameter Settings

1. 3G-FAX system password (for reception in different place): 1234.

2. The password of 3G-FAX seal (signature) provided by the system: 123456.

3. Code of 3G-FAX machine: 1234.

4. Times of automatic answer rings of 3G-FAX: 3.

5. Length of voice message of 3G-FAX: 15s.

6. Time interval of automatic reception of new fax at 3G-FAX client: 1 min.

7. Time interval of automatic check and forwarding of e-mails: 5 min.

8. Time interval of automatic check and reception new fax at 3G-FAX client: 1 min.

15. Setup of Dial-up Access Service

1. Setup under Windows 98 and Windows Me

When creating dial-up connection, please choose 3G-FAX modem; and at the same time, in the property setting of "Modem" under dial-up connection, set the max. Speed to be 57600bps.

2. Setup under Windows 2000 and Windows XP

Step 1: Control panel ->modem-> choose to add modem-> choose not to check and add from the list-> choose standard modem type (standard 33,600bps modem) -> choose serial port used for 3G-FAX (able to be searched in the attribute window of 3G-FAX equipment) -> finish.

Step 2: Choose the standard modem just added and view the attribute and choose the max. Port speed set to be 57,600, and then confirm.

Step 3: When choosing dial-up connection, choose the standard modem just added and choose max. Port speed set to be 57,600 and then confirm.

16. Panel Instruction

1. Indicator Lamp

State: When there is fax/file/voice message coming in, the

when fax is delayed or file is wrong or the memory is full, the indicator lamp will flash.

Power: When it is powered on, the indicator lamp is on.

2. Buttons

Play: When there is voice message, press this button to play the voice message.

Start: In the mode of manual fax reception or fax reception in different place, press this button to receive fax.

Reset: Push this button to reset 3G-Fax machine.

3. LCD Word Description

Full: When the memory of 3G-FAX is full, these words will occur. The capacity of the memory is 2M bytes (in close proximity to 2000 fax pages).

Data: These words will occur when a file is received.

Fax: These words will occur when a fax is received.

Voice: These words will occur when voice message is received.

Delay: These words will occur when there fax or file in 3G-FAX is delayed sending.

Error: These words will occur when the delayed sending in 3G-FAX is wrong.

Direct: Sending or receiving fax and data by computer directly, dial up successful; the LCD panel will display it,

Auto: When set machine to auto receive or delay sending fax, the LCD panel will display it.
